Steiff Limited Edition Richard Steiff Teddy Bear -32 cm

Richard Steiff was born in Giengen, Germany, in 1877 and was the nephew of the founder of Steiff - who was his Aunt Margarete Steiff.

He attended the School of Arts and Crafts in Stuttgart and would regularly visit the nearby Zoo and spend much of his time drawing the residents of the bear enclosure. These drawings formed the basis of the very first teddy bear and encouraged the many stuffed animals which followed and were made by Steiff.

He was a designer and inventor and is the inventor of the Teddy Bear when he designed the World's first Bear in 1902.

He is fully jointed (which means you can move his arms, legs and head) and has shiny black eyes, expressive face with hand embroidered black nose and mouth.

Richard SteiffF loved tailored suits with stand-up collars and stylishly accentuated button plackets, which he wore with a white shirt.

So Steiff have designed this superb bear to remember Richard Steiff as he would have looked around the year 1905 - the year in which Richard came up with the idea of disc-jointed arms and legs.
